The startup leader in Social Commerce faces a new phase of development. A stronger
push on the international markets has immediately obtained relevant results,
breaking the barrier of 10.000 Shops

Naples, October 22nd, 2012 – Earlier in July, Blomming obtained a EUR 1.3 million investment by Vertis Venture (see 1), a venture capital fund of Vertis SGR, an independent Asset Management company based in Naples. This significant economic boost has allowed Blomming, a young Italian startup which is already among the top companies in the Social Commerce industry, to accelerate its growth path with six new entries. Moreover, the aim of international expansion has brought relevant results in English and Spanish-speaking countries with an overall subscribers growth of more than 20% in the last three months, which means three times the rate before this period. Blomming plans also to close the month of October surpassing the milestone of 10,000 Shops.

Gregory Bevilacqua, Paolo Chiodi, Alejandro Mendo and Matteo Parmi are the new entries within the Blomming team, in addition to Andrea Salicetti, Junior Partner who previously worked as a freelancer and has now joined the startup full time. The average age of the team is less than 30 years. Gregory enters Blomming as a web Marketing specialist after four years of international experience in the UK, Ireland and other countries in multinational companies. He has worked in the field of web search engines and digital advertising. Alejandro comes from Spain, where he managed Digital and Social Media presence at a leading fashion e-commerce. Being fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, he will be in charge of Blomming’s Community and Social Media international development. They complete the startup’s team in addition to Francesca Basile, who joined Blomming when she was just graduated and currently is responsible of Customer Care and Catalogue Integrity.

Paolo, Matteo and Andrea are the “Product Dream Team” led by Nicola Junior Vitto, Product Strategist and founder of the company. Paolo programs since he was very young and is a front end and UX/UI design specialist. The specialty of Matteo is the server side development, while Andrea is a senior developer and participates in the development of Blomming from the early days of the platform. They are all specialized in advanced programming languages such as Ruby. As Nicola recently stated: “This dream team now enables us not only to develop the product at a very significant speed, but also to provide our users with new, more and more advanced features”. 

The number of new subscribers in August, September and October is higher than the one obtained in the preceding 11 months, thanks to a more than 20% average month on month growth. This is a remarkable outcome, given that registration is required only for selling and not necessarily to buy. Moreover, the projection of closure for the month of October foresees the overcoming of a major milestone for the startup as the achievement of 10,000 open Shops in the platform.

Blomming’s CEO Matteo Cascinari commented that “It took just an injection of resources to accelerate growth in a significant way. In particular, the results we are achieving in international markets are extremely satisfying, which confirms the effectiveness of our model”.

Blomming has been developed by Nicola Junior Vitto, Alberto D’Ottavi, Matteo Cascinari and Andrea Salicetti. At the age of 31, Nicola, founder and product strategist, has an almost ten-year product strategy experience on the web, E-commerce and finance. Alberto, co-founder and CMO, is a journalist, blogger, Professor and expert in digital innovation and in 2011 has been considered by among the “50 Italians to follow” on Twitter and Facebook. Matteo Cascinari, with significant senior management experience in major Italian and international companies and business angels became a senior partner and CEO in 2011. Andrea Salicetti is a partner and senior developer.
